Both are forms of talking therapy. Counselling is usually used to describe a shorter course of therapy which focuses on helping you to make the decisions you need and to take the steps to move forward from current problems. Psychotherapeutic Counselling can help you to understand yourself more deeply, identifying emotional issues and looking more in-depth at past experiences and traumas that have contributed to your current patterns of beliefs and behaviours. Working psychotherapeutically can help to improve relationships and wellbeing.
You have the choice of combining options if you wish, for example you may like sitting together one week, online the next, maybe taking a walk another week. You choose the frequency of your sessions and together we can look at your goals and determine how many sessions you would like, or if you would prefer open ended.
